The “Program for the Promotion of Education and Employment (PP2E)” aims at improving the living conditions of the population of the region of Agadez in Niger

Standort Niger
Laufzeit 2017-2021

The “Program for the Promotion of Education and Employment (PP2E)” aims at improving the living conditions of the population of the region of Agadez in Niger in order to strengthen the social, economic and educational stability of this region. The population in the concerned region is particularly affected by the flow of migrants towards Europe and needs urgent support to cope with the impact of the increasing and decreasing migrant flows.

Since the beginning of the project in September 2017, Tractebel GKW has been awarded three addenda. The initial contract and the first two addenda are focussing on the fight against irregular migration and the possible economic losses and frustrations among groups of the population currently benefiting from the economic spin-offs linked to irregular migration.

The present addendum (III), awarded in November 2020, responds to the latest global development, the COVID-19 pandemic. A first aid fund of 10 MEUR shall help to enable local authorities in the regions of Tahoua, Tillabéry, and Agadez to react to the overwhelming challenges of the pandemic within the sectors of health, education, and local economy and to meet the emerging needs of their population.

During all parts of the Program, Tractebel GKW has been in charge of the overall project management, including the disbursement and management of an Investment Fund of now totalling 37 MEUR for close to 100 social infrastructure projects such as the construction of schools, health centers, markets, water supply facilities, tracks. The project is scheduled to be completed by end of 2021.
