The irrigation system of the Lower Bari Doab Canal, southwest of Lahore in the Punjab Province of Pakistan, was built between 1913 and 1917 and covers a command area of approximately 700,000 ha. In order to improve and rehabilitate this system, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of Punjab have been financing the Lower Bari Doab Canal Improvement Project (LBDCIP), one of the three main components which is the monitoring, modelling and management of the groundwater.
