The Gangwon Wind Farm is one of the largest wind farms in Korea and East Asia.

The wind farm is located in mountainous terrain at an average elevation of 1,100 meters above sea level. The area has heavy snow in winter. Tractebel has been involved in the project from the early development stage as co-developer, shareholder and owner’s engineer.

The complete wind farm with all three phases achieved substantial completion in October 2006 fully in accordance with the contractual timeline. Tractebel was permanently on site during construction and has continued services on site for O&M supervision during the first five years of operation.
